A plant extract derived from a relative of the daisy family, Bidens pilosa works by mimicking retinol’s mechanism of action, helping to reduce the appearance of common signs of skin ageing. By adopting similar action to retinol, it targets areas prone to loss of firmness and plumpness, providing impressive results in smoothing the appearance of wrinkles but with minimal side effects.

Are retinol products safe to use on sun damaged skin? Thank you.

Thank you or your question. We would not recommend using any skincare or cosmetic product on any area of skin tissue such as scarring or sun damaged skin that is not fully healed. However, if the area is healed you can use both our Superskin Alt-Retinol items where they are mild and gentle. However, Rosehip oil has visibly regenerative properties. It’s the most effective plant oil for skin repair and restoration. Clinical studies have proven its ability to soften scars, reduce 'age' or ‘sun’ pigmentation spots and patches and improve the appearance of fine surface lines. Our Superskin Concentrate for night contains rosehip oil and could help to improve the appearance of pigmentation over a period of time, you may prefer to try this item instead, you can find it here: https://www.lizearle.com/skincare/shop-by-collection/superskin/F33302.html . Can the use of your retinol products make your skin more sensitive to sunlight?  As someone on immunosuppressants should I avoid their use?

We can confirm that there is 0% retinol in both our Superskin Alt-Retiol Booster and Overnight Paste, instead we use a retinol alternatives which are naturally derived ingredients called bidens pilosa and stevia plant for their retinol-like effects. With this in mind our Alt-Retinol range does not increase your skin’s sensitivity to the sun like some traditional retinols. Can these products be used while breastfeeding? Thank you!

We can confirm that all our products have been safety assessed to ensure they are safe for intended use, which includes use during pregnancy and breastfeeding – however, if you have any specific questions or concerns, please speak to your GP or midwife. It might help you to know, that our Superskin Alt-Retinol duo are free from retinol. Instead, these are powered by plants which mimic the retinol like action whilst remaining kinder to your skin. Melasma on both cheeks & bridge of nose I  use a Vit C serum, Skin Tonic, Skin Repair &  Eucerin SPF anti pigment. Twice a week  -Alpha H Liquid Gold  I am keen to try  Alt-Retinol  Booster & Paste however not sure how to layer the products.

Unfortunately, we cannot advise on if our Superskin Alt-Retinol products will be suitable for any specific medical skin conditions such as melasma and we would recommend seeking advice from your GP. However, our formulations do have a variety of benefits that can help reduce the appearance of a number of other skin concerns. Our Superskin Alt-Retinol Skin Paste visibly refines the texture of skin while smoothing the appearance of fine lines for an overall more youthful and rejuvenated look. Our Superskin Alt-Retinol Booster targets the appearance of deeper lines and wrinkles for visibly plumper-looking skin while also supporting skin’s moisture barrier for a healthy-looking glow. If you would like to add our Alt-Retinol Booster into your existing daily skincare routine, we would recommend to applying onto clean dry skin; Cleanse, tone, booster, serum, moisturise and an SPF as the final step. You can use Superskin Alt-Retinol Booster in two ways. Use alone: Apply directly to any area showing signs of ageing for targeted results. Apply 1-2 drops into your hands, warm and smooth over the skin avoiding the eye area, then apply your moisturiser. Mix it: Mix 1-2 drops into your moisturiser and massage into the skin, avoiding the eye area The Superskin Alt-Retinol Skin Paste is an overnight paste, which we would recommend using the evening 2-3 times a week after cleansing and toning (No need to apply moisturiser on these evenings.) Apply a (blueberry sized amount) thin layer on to clean, dry skin. The correct amount should leave you with a golden glow, before sinking into the skin.
