Combination Skin

The majority of women are thought to have combination skin and most of us, at some stage in our lives, will experience it. It is characterised by a mixture of skin types on different parts of the face, with some areas feeling dry and others oilier. Typically, someone with combination skin has normal skin on their cheeks which can sometimes feel a little dry, especially in the winter months, and an oilier T-zone which can be prone to breakouts. Breakouts are also common for combination skin.

Our skincare advice and recommendations

Cleanse
Use a gentle cleanser such as Cleanse & Polish™ Hot Cloth Cleanser to instantly remove daily grime, pollutants and make up, even stubborn mascara, to leave skin feeling comfortable, balanced and exceptionally clean. Used with the pure cotton cloth it gently exfoliates, lifting away dead skin cells to reveal smoother, clearer and brighter-looking skin.

Tone
Follow with Instant Boost™ Skin Tonic to gently refresh your skin. Formulated with aloe vera, this heavenly floral-scented, non-drying toner is gentle and alcohol-free, and provides an instant boost of hydration to leave skin looking radiantly healthy.

Exfoliate
Exfoliating can help buff away dead skin cells, particularly effective in dry areas. Our Gentle Face Exfoliator is perfect for combination skin types. It contains cocoa butter and eucalyptus to both moisturise and purify and is ideal for use before applying a treatment mask.

A cleansing and purifying mask 1-2 times a week can also help keep skin looking clear. Our Deep Cleansing Mask contains green clay to help reduce oiliness and to leave skin feeling balanced and calm. It’s perfect for combination and problem skin – simply apply to your T-zone to reduce oiliness. If your cheeks are feeling particularly dry, apply our Intensive Nourishing Treatment Mask to help hydrate. Just remember to follow with your chosen moisturiser.

Moisturise
Choose a lighter moisturiser formulated for normal/combination skin, such as Skin Repair™ Moisturiser - Normal/combination. Even if your skin is oily in places, it still needs moisturising. Apply to drier areas of skin such as the cheeks first, then lightly sweep in towards the T-zone.

You can use the same daytime moisturiser at night, or you can substitute your night-time moisturiser with a facial oil. The application of a facial oil can help lead to a more balanced complexion. Just a pea-size amount of the pure plant oil blend in our divinely aromatic Superskin™ Concentrate for Night is perfect for this.
