You’ve packed your cotton shopping bags and (nearly) always remember your reusable coffee cup, but what about lunch? Unfortunately the majority of take out options score low on the single-use plastics front. Even if you’re lucky enough to have an office kitchen with plates and cutlery supplied, the majority of supermarket soups, salads and sandwiches are packaged in some type of plastic, which at best may be recyclable, or at worst contributes to landfill.

But it’s not all doom and gloom. This Earth Day we’re taking the opportunity to inspire lunch-breakers across the nation to get organised and pack their own. With a little help from James Wong’s new book, 10-a-day the easy way, here are 5 easy ideas to liven up your lunch box, without the side order of single-use plastics.
