'I visited Fenwick in Bond Street today and was browsing your counter. Your advisor greeted me in a friendly way but I told her I was just browsing and so she left me alone (exactly what I wanted her to do). Having had rather unsatisfactory service at another counter where they seemed unable to advise me on what to do about dry, forty-something skin, and failed to even sell me some moisturiser, I thought I would pop back to your counter. Your advisor, whose name is Patricia (it's a great idea to have a name badge the customer can actually read) remembered me and asked if she might be able to help. All I can say is that if I am served with greater competence, charm, product knowledge, interest and sincerity this year, I will be amazed. I bought a few different products, and had a number of others demonstrated to me without feeling pressurised into buying them straight away. After I had paid she offered me a hand and arm massage which was very welcome and perfectly executed. She also gave me some samples and spritzed me with your scent, which I will almost certainly have to buy; I smell lovely as I type this! I would also like to say that if this woman's skin is an example of what your products can help us all aspire to, you could not have a better ambassador for your brand. Something else which I noted with pleasure is that your counter is spotlessly clean and the highest standards of hygiene are clearly a priority for your staff. I know that it is very hard work selling beauty products. I am also aware that it is not usually very well paid. This is probably why the service we may receive shopping for even some of the allegedly high-end brands does not always encourage us to buy. You would never guess either of those things from the service I received today. There is an overwhelming amount of choice in your market and I often wonder how beauty companies manage to achieve differentiation. Well you have certainly succeeded with this consumer. I wish your business every success and long may this member of your team continue to work for you.
