I would just like to say that I am so happy to have found products that are kind to my skin and improve the condition and appearance massively! I've always struggled to find products I can use, as I have allergies and found just about everything irritated my skin more. It was getting me down until I came across Liz Earle. Miss Ruth Reynolds
Very sensitive skin can be difficult to care for and the best solution is to use the gentlest skincare, avoid irritants and keep things simple.
Our skincare advice
- Minimise your exposure to common irritants such as fragrance and synthetic sunscreens, and if your skin is really suffering, avoid fragranced hairsprays, body sprays and air fresheners.
- Sensitive skin on the face should be handled carefully. Avoid exfoliators and stick to cool water when cleansing, rather than very hot or very cold water. Sensitive and rosacea-prone skin can benefit from applying a thick layer of our Intensive Nourishing Treatment Mask as often as needed. The blend of botanicals – including borage, comfrey and St John's wort – have been specially chosen to replenish, calm and condition skin.
- When showering, avoid petrochemical detergents sodium lauryl and sodium lauryl sulphate, as these can irritate sensitive skin. Try using our gentle Orange Flower Botanical Body Wash for your body and our Botanical Shine Shampoo for your hair, as they are both formulated with natural foaming cleansers instead of petrochemical detergents.
- After showering or bathing, follow with an equally gentle body cream such as our Nourishing Botanical Body Cream. The concentrated, deeply hydrating cream will help to keep skin soothed and moisturised all day long.
- If you have very allergy-prone skin, it may also help to pay attention to what you are eating, as some foods can be allergy triggers and can further aggravate sensitive skin.
